CD Review

Slave To The System

Slave To The System is a new project consisting of members of Brother Cane and Queensryche. On paper the two bands would not appear to have much in common nor would one think that their styles would be very cohesive. But after one listen to this cd all of those doubts will be put to rest. Damon Johnson's gritty vocals definitely bring comparisons to Brother Cane but the furious drums of Scott Rockenfield and the guitars of Scotty Heard and Kelly Gray bring a fresh sound to this unit. The cd is pretty versatile with the opening track 'Stigmata' and the thunderous 'Disinfected' being very heavy in nature. Yet on the track 'Love This Life' the band displays its ability to write a great slower tempo ballad of sorts. 'Will You Be There' and 'Leaves' have the classic blues rock feel. The band recently signed with SPITFIRE RECORDS and re-issued this release including three new tracks that leave you wanting more. Slave is set to hit the road for a string of shows thru the midwest this spring.
